Aug. 29, 2017 – With over 93,000 Hurricane Harvey victims currently without power and more than 30,000 in temporary shelters, local Tzu Chi USA chapters in Dallas and Houston are evaluating how they can best provide immediate disaster aid to the stranded and displaced. Tzu Chi plans to distribute 10,000 lbs. of instant rice, 11,000 blankets and 5,000 first aid kits and financial assistance may be provided upon review in purchasing the most immediate needs of clothes, shoes, medicine, and eye glasses. Tzu Chi will also provide emotional support to survivors in Red Cross-designated and state-designated shelters. Tzu Chi volunteer doctors will be providing consultations.
