America Goes Back To Normalcy
Americans are celebrating steps toward normalcy. President Biden is pushing a major effort toward his goal of having 70% of all American adults to be vaccinated by July 4. Biden also plans to recruit 1,000 black-owned barbershops and salons to provide “shots at the shop” nationwide. The president wants Americans to head into the summer this year feeling dramatically different from last year’s summer. All of us deserve it after the long, long dark winter we’ve all endured.
In New York City, they have started to vaccinate Americans over 12 years old. The state of Alaska has begun offering coronavirus vaccinations at the airports in time for summer travel.
Unfortunately, many countries around the world, including Taiwan, are still out of vaccine. The government is still reviewing the application to let Foxconn‘s Terry Kuo buy 5 million doses of the BioNTech vaccine to be donated to the people of Taiwan. The shots would be airlifted from Germany to Taiwan.
Shanghai Fosun Group has a contract with BioNTch to sell the vaccines in greater China, including Taiwan, but the government said they will only deal with BioNTeh in Germany and they do not trust vaccines from China. Because of the political reasons, whether or not Terry Kuo can get the vaccine delivered is still in the government’s hands.
